Nobles Day Camp is delighted to share that our Camp Director Beth Johns-Thomas is the recipient of the 2025 George Marcus Award for Standards Education from the American Camp Association (ACA) New England!  Beth was presented with the prestigious award at the 2025 New England Camp Conference in Manchester, NH, by her granddaughter, Livy, in March.

The George Marcus Award for Standards Education is given to a standards volunteer who exemplifies leadership and dedication in the ACA accreditation process, serves as a key ambassador and advocate for both ACA and the standards, and demonstrates exceptional commitment by mentoring camps, recruiting new camps or advancing changes to the accreditation process.

Johns-Thomas has dedicated more than 30 years of her life toward the enrichment and engagement of young people. She has been an ACA visitor for more than 15 years and is currently an ACA standards instructor. In her spare time, Beth also serves on the ACA New England Board of Directors.

Furthermore, she earned this recognition and distinguished honor by championing the education of the accreditation process through mentoring camps and going above and beyond to help camps through the accreditation process.  She is an ambassador of ACA and the accreditation process to camps and an active recruiter of new camps to accreditation.  She advances change regarding the accreditation process and specific standards by bringing awareness and attention to the National Standards Commission.  She, also, demonstrates unusual dedication and leadership in her role as Trainer, Instructor, Visitor, and Standards Committee member.

The ACA is a leading authority for summer camps and youth development, working to preserve, promote and improve the camp experience. The ACA New England conference is the longest running camp conference, with this being the 103rd year.  More than 800 camp professionals from over 250 camps around New England convened at this year’s conference March 27-29 for three days of learning and networking.

Nobles Day Camp is so very proud of our leader and all that she brings to our camp community.  Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Beth!
